Release date: November 18, 2011 Director: Bill Condon The last film trailer that I chose to analyse was from the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, directed by Bill Condon.
The trailer also shows a close up shot of a passing of a letter between a main character and an unknown character. The close up shot emphasises’ the importance that the letter must have. This is again an enigma code. What is in the letter?
Looking at the editing of this trailer, you can see that it is very fast paced, the shots are all quick cuts.
This film would already have a
lot of interest, due to the cliff-hanger left at the end of the previous film (Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn: Part 1)
The first shot that appears is the production company ‘Summit Entertainment’ logo. Having this at the beginning of the trailer, shows that they want show the audience who produced and distributed the film. Being a very well-known company, would encourage the viewer to see the film, due to the company’s success rate of previous films.

Sound and Dialogue-
This is closely followed by a piece of non-diegetic asynchronous dialogue by Bella (Kristen Stewart) ‘After 18 years of being utterly ordinary, I’ve finally found I could shine. I was born to be a vampire.’
This is accompanied by subtle drum beats, which could connote a heart rate; which builds up tension and would therefore increase the viewer’s excitement. This use of sound could also show audiences that are unfamiliar with twilight, what the genre is. The 'heartbeat' could show the love Bella feels towards Edward.
‘The Cullen’s. They have done something terrible.’ This piece of non –diegetic dialogue, is an enigma code. An enigma code leads the audience asking questions; and would therefore encourage an audience member to watch the film, due to the fact they want to know the answer to this question.
Another piece of dialogue that would leave an audience member wanting more, is said by Aro (Michael Sheen) ‘Maintaining our secret has never been more imperative.’ This enigma code would leave the audience asking questions such as what secret? Why is it now more imperative to keep it a secret now than it used to be? These enigma codes would again lead the viewer wanting to see the film to get their questions answered.
The background drum beat continues right through the end increases in speed and volume, which increases the tension even further; getting the viewers heart rate going.

Camerawork and editting-
The camerawork in movies is one of the most important aspects. Usually, a wide variety of shots are used to keep the trailer from being boring and repetitive.
In the master shot, the location is established using an extreme wide shot. You can then see the main character Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) running through woodland. This may attract a male audience, as the first character you see in a trailer is usually male, and being an attractive woman, may appeal to a more male audience. Other important shots include the male main characters Edward Cullen and Jacob Black (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) This would appeal to a female audience, which creates a balance of audience type that they are aiming the trailer at.

Lighting
The lighting throughout the trailer is used in variety. When you are shown a shot of what would be considered a ‘good’ character, are shown in high key. This is contrasted when you are shown ‘bad’ characters; this can emphasise the darkness that surrounds them; this may also foreshadow the dark events to come.
Costume
All of the characters costumes are plain and basic apart from the Volturi. The Volturi are the ‘vampire government’ and being in more glamourous, shows the audience their wealth and power above the rest of the characters.

The overall trailer would appeal to the audience, due to many fast paced
fights, sports cars, and plot twists.
